An Upbeat Opening for the 2013 ISM Annual ConferencePosted: April 28, 2013
Following a rousing performance by the young, enthusiastic Dynamic Drummers from Dove Elementary School in Grapevine, Texas, ISM’s 98th Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit opened. The upbeat mood of the opening session continued as Condoleezza Rice took the stage to a standing ovation from the Conference crowd.
Former Secretary of State Rice, Denning Professor in Global Business and the Economy at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, talked about the state of the country and the state of the world. She zeroed in on the “great shocks” experienced over the past decade, including 9/11 and the economic crisis.
ISM CEO Tom Derry welcomed Conference attendees, promising the next few days would offer them many opportunities to learn how “to be the solution” to advance their careers and help their organizations.
